Participation at SAHC2025 conference

The 14th International Conference on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (SAHC 2025) was held from September 15th-17th 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland, with an overall theme of heritage conservation in the digital era. 575 participants from 52 countries contributed to the conference, combining cutting-edge research advancements with the experience of practicing engineers to enhance the treatment of historical buildings from both perspectives.

2BESAFE research team members Mario Uroš and Marija Demšić participated in the scientific committee of the conference and as session convenors. Particularly important was the session titled “Seismic assessment and retrofit of cultural heritage buildings in Balkan region” which focused on existing building typologies important also for the 2BESAFE project. Research team member Ante Pilipović contributed with a conference paper titled “Identification of critical elements of unreinforced masonry buildings for selection of optimal retrofit solutions”, where he presented the latest developments of the 2BESAFE methodology for developing new vulnerability models of URM buildings using the performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) approach and the latest research on demand and damage analysis of URM buildings.

Research member Ante Pilipović also participated in the OpenSees Workshop held during the conference. OpenSees is an open source engine for performing earthquake simulations using equivalent frame models, featuring custom macroelements that may capture advanced nonlinear effects for both concrete and masonry buildings.
