Assoc. prof. Mario Uroš gives invited lecture at GNP 2024 conference in Kolašin, Montenegro
Members of the research group assoc.prof. Mario Uroš, Romano Jevtić Rundek and Ante Pilipović attended the international GNP 2024 conference (Građevinarstvo – nauka i praksa) in Kolašin, Montenegro, 5.-9. March 2024. The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of the University of Montenegro and the 45th anniversary of the devastating Montenegro earthquake of 1979. The main theme of the conference was earthquake resistant structures with focus on the latest research in seismic design and building practices concerning earthquake resistant structures. The conference included invited lectures, oral and poster presentations of conference papers, round tables and sponsor presentations.
Assoc. prof. Mario Uroš gave an invited lecture with the topic of Croatian experiences in post-earthquake reconstruction and recovery in Zagreb and Petrinja regions, where he presented the problems that the Croatian earthquake engineering community had to overcome in the time after the damaging earthquakes in Croatia in 2020. He shared the Croatian experiences and solutions to practical reconstruction problems, which are of great importance in strengthening the earthquake engineering community in the region.
The research team connected with earthquake engineering experts from the southeastern Europe region. Contacts with prof. Svetlana Brzev of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, were especially fruitful for the project 2BESAFE, as fruitful exchange took place on the topics of development of fragility and vulnerability functions of typical buildings and numerical modelling of structures under seismic loads.
